Whereby it is
it is agreed by and between the parties hereto, as follows:-
1. The said Richard Ryan (hereinafter called the person engaged) is hereby appointed on probation upon the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth to be Musketry Instructor, and Storekeeper to the Police Force of Hong Kong.
2. The term of service of the person engaged shall be Three years to be computed from the day of arrival in Hong Kong.
3. The person engaged shall proceed to Hong Kong at such time and in such manner as shall be prescribed by the Crown Agents for the Colonies.
4. From the time of his arrival in Hong Kong and thenceforth during the continuance of his term of service the person engaged shall go to and reside in such place or places and occupy and employ himself in such manner as shall be required from time to time by the Government and shall be in all things subservient to and obey the directions and orders of the Government or their representative or representatives.
5. The person engaged shall during the continuance of his term of service devote his whole time and
